The Tryzub School of Ukrainian Dance was created to guide and prepare their students to become the Tryzub Ukrainian Dance Ensemble of tomorrow. we want our students to achieve a high standard of technical skills; value Ukrainian dance as a path to creative expression; and learn about the role of dance within the Ukrainian and Canadian culture.

Anna Kanevets 

Anna Kanevets comes from Kyiv, Ukraine. She is a Ballet Master, and has dedicated herself to the art of dance her entire life. Anna began her education in 1972 at the Ballet school of Berdyansk Ukraine, where she studied Ukrainian, Character, and Ballet dance, Theory of dance, and the History of Ballet. Anna graduated with honours in 1977. From 1977 to 1981, Anna was a professional dancer with the Ukraine Dance Ensemble, "Viteret's", during which time she performed at the 1980 Olympic games in Moscow. In 1981 Anna was accepted into the Kyiv University of Culture, Faculty of Choreography, where she received her Ballet Masters degree, and graduated with honours, in 1985. Before moving to Canada in 1996, Anna spent eleven years in the position of, Dance teacher and administrator of the Choreography faculty, at the Kyiv Collage of Culture. In this capacity, Anna developed and taught courses in Classical, Character and Ukrainian Dance, Dance composition and delivery, history of Ukrainian dance, and Ukrainian regional costumes. Anna was also the artistic director of "Molodoshchy Performance Ensemble. During this time Anna and the troupe traveled throughout Ukraine and Russia. Anna has adjudicated nation-wide competitions in Ukraine, including Ballet, Character, Ukrainian and Ballroom dance. Anna was the Artistic Director for Yatran Dance Academy as well as “Koperoush” School of Ukrainian Dance from 1996-2005 and 1997-2005 respectively. During this time the dance groups received many awards and scholarships for their performances. She has also worked with “Poltava” Children School in Regina, with AUDA for summer dance camps and Royal Glenora Club as a ballet instructor for figure skaters. In addition to her background in choreography, she has been the adjudicator at the Vaganova Dance Society Ballet Exams and several Ukrainian Dance Competitions in Alberta. For the past two years Anna was a repetitor for the “Volya” Ukrainian Dance Ensemble of Edmonton, Alberta. With them she has traveled to folk festivals in Brazil in the summer of 2004 and Italy in the summer of 2005. This year her choreography was seen in the “Rusalka” Ukrainian Dance Ensemble’s “Legend of the Rusalka”. This production was also  presented in the Aberdeen Youth Festival, in Scotland. Anna is very pleased to return as Artistic Director of Tryzub Ukrainian Dance School.
