The Tryzub Ukrainian Dance Ensemble, with the goals to encourage youth development in the arts and to preserve, promote and express our Ukrainian traditions and heritage, initiated the Tryzub Ukrainian Festival in the spring of 1997. The Festival provides an excellent opportunity for the young (or young at heart) to showcase their talents, advance their abilities and build new and lasting friendships with their peers. |

Growing each year, Tryzub Ukrainian Festival now attracts over 500 participants from across western Canada joining in various events - Dance Competition, Yarmarok (art market), and Showcase Performance - throughout the weekend. Audience members enjoy superb entertainment and share in the cultural display.
Held at a professional theatre venue, dancers and musical artists are able to experience the thrill of performing "under the lights". At the Yarmarok, well-known along with up-and-coming artisans present their designs for show and sale. The Showcase Performance, bringing the Festival to a close, captures the spirit of the weekend's events - diversity of culture, pride in performance and camaraderie. It features the standout individuals and groups that performed over the course of the weekend as well as a presentation of scholarships.
Dates for the next Tryzub Ukrainian Festival are
April 30 - May 2, 2010. This year's festival will be held at the Wright Theatre, at
Mount Royal College.
